Digital Scotland

Here comes one more presentation from the last NAPLE Assembly. In this case, Digital Scotland – building e‐services in public libraries, by Elaine Fulton , from Scotland.

Next we present some photos of the last NAPLE Assembly that took place in Copenhagen last May. The next day the joint EBLIDA-NAPLE Conference was celebrated and this year the 20th Anniversary of EBLIDA and 10th Anniversary of NAPLE where commemorated.

Summary of news on the Sister Libraries Programme

Last week in Sister Libraries Blog, Maria João Guerreiro from Portugal told us in a post that the sistership between Lousada Municipal Library (Portugal) and Salamanca Public Library “Torrente Ballester” (Spain) is proving very fruitful. And she explains the second visit they are swapping in the framework of their sistership, this time they are going to receive a visit from a Reader´s Group of Public Library Torrente Ballester the 16th and 17th of June.

Portal Kvalitaknih

Three e-book sellers (e-Reading.cz, Kosmas and Palmknihy) acting in Czechia started the portal “kvalitaknih.cz”. The portal is aimed to provide publishers with standards of producing quality e-books, but it is opened to all experts and professionals dealing with e-books, include librarians. The portal was introduced during the book fair Svět knihy (World of Books) held on the 17th -20th May in Prague.

Summary of news on the Sister Libraries Programme

Last week in Sister Libraries Blog, Aleksandra, Director of Library in Piekary Śląskie, told us in a post some of the activities her library is carrying out with its sister libraries. This time, she sends us the results and some photos of the International Art Contest for Children that was organised in May.

Furthermore, she explains another activity called “5 minutes for a book” in which its sister library Municipal Library of Arucas took part.

Summary of news on the Sister Libraries Programme

Last week in Sister Libraries Blog there was more news about one sistership made some months ago. This time, Civic Library of Piran (Slovenia) explains some of the activities that they are developing with its two Portuguese Sister Libraries, as the exhibition of Portuguese poet Luis Vaz de Camoes when in Portugal the Portuguese National Day is celebrated.

Europeana Workshop in Prague

EUROPEANA Workshop took place on Thursday 10.5.12 in Prague in the National Library. The workshop was focused on activities of Czech institution on the field of digitization of European cultural heritage. Lecturers presented digital library of historical collections Manuscriptorium as an agregating service for Europeana, project eSbirky.cz (platform for presentation digitized museum objects) and the European project CARARE.
